WOW!

First Macross, Set 88, Macross Plus and now Yukikaze. The epic is similar to these prior anime series focusing on the planes and the pilots troubles. The note graphically is dazzling, albeit a bit sunless with muted colors. Some of the shots of the sunset/sunrise skies are unbiased radiant. The CGI is well done.

The record is not overly unusual, man vs. machine, but the execution of the tale is what makes it gargantuan. The characters are likeable and you feel sympathy for those who rep shot down.

The action sequences are unbiased gargantuan. It is a blast watching the planes turn and bank, shoot and score shot down, kick in the afterburners and do other arial acrobatics.

There was a scene in episode 1 that almost made my jaw fall, sort of something like Tony Hawk would, but with a plane.

I cannot wait until the rest of the series is out!

Im an electrician for the modern well-organized hornet currently. This film totally blew my mind with all the suitable aircraft inovations. The acronyms, the radar altimeter sounds effects, the aero combats scenes, were down to a “T”. Not to mention the ending theme song is elegant hip.If you appreciate jets and original aerodynamic technology this series has it. This series is worth every penny. Now i hope Amazon can salvage there hands on “Macross Zero”…USA….u haven’t seen nothing yet………

After the defeat of Neat Android 17, it’s time to expend the Dragon Balls again to revive the tiresome, in particular, Krillin, who’s already been revived once by the Earth’s Dragon Balls, so I can’t sight how he can be wished relieve this time. Anyway, this time, something goes detestable and instead of the dragon granting wishes it splits into seven other dragons who threaten the world. Of course, Goku goes off to deal with the dwelling and Pan, more fervent than ever to demonstrate herself as a fighter, tags along. Goku is terrified at first, but Pan actually does quite well against the first few dragons, even mastering the Kamehameha wave. This volume and the next are about as splendid as Pan gets, so it’s worth buying.

didnt really like it is more a intruduction to what happent to dragon balls and the dragons but is no meany action but is salubrious to have it in my collection

Although I believe the movie is an over-loud, completely illogical and fairly disorienting allotment of Hollywood claptrap, as far as substantial Summer blockbusters go it’s hard to beat Armageddon. But I wanted to add a grand, hairy and potentially sales-limiting aside to all the other reviews. If you’re upgrading to a widescreen TV thinking this DVD will showcase the fresh technological wonders of prograssive scan and 16×9 flat screens you’ll be sorely disappointed when you accumulate that there is no anamorphic version on this disc. That’s accurate, friends, even with all the other extras, they couldn’t be bothered to include the one feature that truly showcases the cinematography and special effects (which are, let’s face it, this film’s halmarks cuz it certain ain’t the acting and script) . On a widescreen TV, Criterion’s Armageddon provides dusky bars above, below and side to side yielding a postcard idea of the “ample mask” action.

The Criterion Collection release of Armageddon is a treat. It offers 2 commentary tracks, one featuring the director Michael Bay, actors Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has comments on several spicy things. Affleck’s commentary is sometimes very droll. The other commentary track features the Director of Photography and special effects people.

The commentary includes tantalizing details, including background information on the characters and filming locations. Note: The commentary is raw and sometimes laced with profanity, although the movie itself is rated PG-13, for reasons explained in the commentary.

Although it’s not distinguished, this collection is also a Director’s Gash and has a couple scenes added, considerable of which is Harry Stamper’s character visiting his father before begin. Some other scenes are chop slightly differently, adding some depth to the yarn.

The Gag reel on the second disk is extremely silly, raw, and not your typical “behind-the-scenes” documentary.

The second disk also features a mammoth amount of information on the special effects and includes many different trailers and promo material. The Aerosmith song video is also included.

While the memoir can be nit-picked, it’s collected very spellbinding and exquisite.

Overall, if you liked the movie, the Criterion Collection release is the DVD to have.

One of the biggest treats of the 2007 television season was “Damages,” a unfriendly and incredible accurate thriller from FX. Headlined by Glenn End, I expected to savor this show–but I wasn’t prepared for the level of sophistication, complexity, and intelligence it offered up from its first twisty, and zigzag, moments. Made for adults, this drama demands attention and may not be for the casual viewer. With its intricate plotting and structure, the epic is told from different time periods interwoven throughout each episode. Essentially, snippets of the chronicle are presented in each time frame, so the audience is left to speculate about the pudgy truth in any given instance. However, as the season progresses, the pieces begin to connect in unexpected ways that can both surprise and frustrate. I’d compare the anecdote rush of “Damages” to that of a handsome novel–telling you honest enough so that you are tantalized to stick around for the next chapter.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Damages: The Complete First Season! Click Here

The residence of “Damages” is a knotty web that is difficult to picture briefly. Ostensibly, the reveal revolves around a naive young lawyer played by Rose Byrne. The opening scenes indicate a bedraggled and bloodied Byrne stumbling down the streets of Modern York–apparently the victim (or perhaps the perpetrator) of an act of violence. Crop to six months earlier and a honorable introduction is made. Byrne is seduced and recruited by a major law firm urge by Glenn Terminate. Conclude seems to have a hidden agenda, but Byrne is hasty overcome by the trappings of success and acceptance. The firm is handling an broad class action lawsuit against one of the town’s most prominent businessmen, played by Ted Danson, and Byrne ends up squarely in the midst of great lawful intrigue. What follows includes lying, blackmail, corruption, and even murder–no one in this anecdote remains an innocent.

While I actually consider the location is the steady star of “Damages” (I don’t believe I’ve ever said that about a TV note before) –it certainly doesn’t afflict that the cast is uniformly obedient. Don’t be surprised if you look Conclude front and center arrive awards time. Her thinly veiled menace and cutting remarks effect for classic villainy, but Halt pulls it off in a intention that you can’t benefit but like! Byrne and all the key supporting players are solid and believable. I particularly liked Zeljko Ivanek and Peter Facinelli, but the valid revelation to me was Ted Danson. Honestly, I’ve followed Danson since he was a bit player in “Body Heat” and I reflect this is by far his best role. Mixing equal parts charm and bile, this is a stout actor in a beautifully written role.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Damages: The Complete First Season! Click Here

Again, I don’t recommend “Damages” to everyone–I only wish I could! If, however, you treasure sophisticated drama–give this a shot. The DVD format is the perfect draw to ogle this reveal at your fill crawl and like all its subtleties, surprises, and delights. But, be reminded, if you sit down to perceive this show–WATCH IT! Otherwise, you might not savor how intricately save together “Damages” really is. KGHarris, 12/07.

There aren’t any eccentric characters that create you laugh like Denny Crane on “Boston True” nor are there any cases neatly tied up at the conclusion of each episode with a bow on them. “Damages” follows a single case and the follow out from that case from its beginning until its bitter destroy. “Damages” begins with Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne from “28 Weeks Later” and “Sunshine”) bloodied and battered walking the streets of Unique York until she is discovered by the police. From there the series takes a rush serve in time six months earlier a case that Ellen worked on as a recent attorney at Patricia Hewes (Glenn Terminate) & Associates. It’s a civil case where Hewes is suing multi-billionaire Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) for hollowing out his company and robbing 5000 employees of his company of their pension plans in the process. Having escaped the prosecution of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Frosbisher now must defend himself from claims that he benefited by selling his stocks before his company collapsing and getting away scot-free. Frobisher of course insists that he is innocent and was as powerful a victim losing the company he cared for as the employees. We gawk the entire case unfold before our eyes, the double dealings, double crosses and underhanded attempts by both the Hewes and Frobisher’s attorney to pick up the upper hand in this litigation.

“Damages” is compelling, enchanting and well written featuring a wide variety of characters with their beget agendas. No one truly is an angel here although the naïve Ellen comes much terminate as she finds herself dragged into Hewes’ world and manipulated as worthy by her boss as she is by the opposition in the case. A personal connection between Ellen and the case is uncovered which also makes Ellen suspect that the only reason she got the job was so that she could be primitive to acquire the upper hand in the case. In the process Ellen sees her ambitions and dreams pull further and further away from her arrive fair as she thinks she is climbing the corporate ladder of success. Hewes tells Ellen at one point, “trust no one” and the same could be applied to everyone interested in the case.

Academy Award nominee/Emmy winner Halt, Emmy Award winner Danson, Bryne, Tate Donovan, Peter Riegert, Michael Nouri and a host of film/TV/Broadway veterans bring these characters to life with a vibrancy rare in series television. If the epic sounds like it was ripped from the headlines, the Enron, Worldcom and other scandals where corporate CEO’s betrayed the public trust and manipulated the market inspired the series but it’s the compelling characters and drama that will accomplish you stick around to the conclusion of this 13 episode FX series.

The opening had me scratching my head in puzzlement–it looked like crappy low-rez video. It’s a façade like everything else here as it is simply a sequence showing us the raw reality that Ellen finds himself trapped in. As the expose jumps assist six months in time to the beginning of the case, we gather a beautifully rendered video image. There are a couple of problems with video noise that occur.

Audio sounds well-behaved with a 5.1 mix that uses the format quite well. The 5.1 format is nicely faded given that this is primarily a dialogue driven indicate with nice ambient effects captured in the surround channels.

I was surprised that we only pick up two audio commentaries on this station as I had hoped for more but both are effective and insightful. Glenn Conclude, writers/producers Todd Kessler & Glenn Kessler, Daniel Zelman and director Allen Coulter appear on the pilot episode discussing issues they ran into shooting on position in Modern York during a deplorable winter, issues they ran into with trying to bring the series in on budget but short shrift the quality of the demonstrate. I would have loved to hear cessation and her co-stars on a separate audio commentary track discuss the craft of acting, their near to the material and some of their thoughts during their performances but what we do gain is quite pleasurable.

The second audio commentary features actor Zeljko Ivanek front and center dominating the discussion with the Kesslers and Zelman joining in with technical tidbits from time-to-time. Ivanek has long been one of my common character actors and he has largely been underused in many TV shows and movies so its nice to gape him pick up a character as juicy as defense attorney Ray Fiske to sink his teeth into southern whine and all.

“Willful Acts” is a half hour behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the series. “Trust No One” clocks in under fifteen minutes and focuses more on the characters in the series. We also accumulate a variety of deleted scenes. The really frigid feature of this area is that the disc is enabled so that the player can remember which episodes you’ve watched and jump just attend to the one you had next in rotation if you decide the “play all” feature.

“Damages” is a terrific, compelling honest drama. All 13 episodes of the series plus the extras are on three Blu-ray discs and you also earn an insert that gives you the title of each episode, a brief synopsis and credits for each one as well.

After over forty years this remains a truly grand film, and the secret is not hard to locate: Spencer Tracy and Fredric March. These two vast actors, both come the raze of their respective careers (both would invent other films, but it would be the last mountainous performance in March’s career and one of the last in Tracy’s, though he did go on to excel in both JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG and GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER) . Retract them from the film, and there wouldn’t be a whole lot left. Luckily, they are in it, and between them they manage to chew up scene after scene as they show movie acting at its very finest.

The record, of course, is loosely (though not too loosely) based on the Scopes trial, where Clarence Darrow defended John Scopes from charges of having taught the theory of evolution in a public school. William Jennings Bryan, old US senator, secretary of set, and three-time presidential candidate, argued the case for the prosecution. Although the real-life trial was covered by a expansive press corps, the movie focuses on only one reporter, the fictional E. K. Hornbeck, who is loosely based on H. L. Mencken and played somewhat against type by Gene Kelly (sadly, it would also be Kelly’s last major role; unlike his friend and rival Fred Astaire, his career was slice short partly by the demise of the musical and partly by injuries that made dancing harder for him as he frail, but also unlike Astaire he was unable to derive quality acting roles as he weak) .

The film is also served well by an capable supporting cast. Harry Morgan, later familiar from M*A*S*H, capably plays the reflect in the trial. Dick York, later the first Darren in BEWITCHED (interestingly, a TV exhibit based on I MARRIED A WITCH, in which Fredric March played the “Darren” equivalent) is a familiar face. Claude Akens, who guest starred in literally hundreds of television shows from the 1950s through the 1980s, got one of the larger roles of his career as Rev. Jeremiah Brown, like Kelly against type since he usually played cowboys, criminals, or police officers.

I have often had mixed feelings about director Stanley Kramer. While I like several of his movies–especially ON THE BEACH, THE DEFIANT ONES, and this one–I always win the impression that I like them despite his direction. His films always seem to drift in the action, seem to lack focus, and have a unpleasant stir. The overall structure of his films seems to be old-fashioned. On the other hand, he seems to have been an actor’s director, and many of his films feature strong performances. This is all to say that this is not a well-directed film, and without the two stellar leading actors, it might not have been noteworthy to recognize. As it is, however, it remains a riveting film, and even if there isn’t a gargantuan deal beyond the two leading performances, that alone is sufficient to compose this a must-see film.

There are many reasons to search for this movie, one of the distinguished films of the past 50 years. But the considerable motivation is to gape the greatest hide actor of all, Spencer Tracy, negate a performance for the ages. Examine this master emote with movement, assert and nuance. He steals the characterize (as he usually does), but there is another quick-witted performance as well. This is delivered expertly by the underrated Fredric March, in one of the meatiest roles ever handed to an actor. March is at turns witty, cunning, over-the-top, hammy or contrite, depending upon the demands of the scene. His scenes on the observe stand with Tracy are among the best written and beautifully acted pieces in movie history. It’s impossible not to be on the edge of your seat as Tracy quizzes March about various passages from the Bible.

I won’t bother with the details of the place, which is well known to most movie fans. Don’t quiz right or truthful history, and gain that Kramer’s direction is sometimes petite and even claustrophobic. Contemplate this film because there has never been such an array of animated performances as were delivered by Tracy and March. An astonishing note of acting talent.

Warner Bros. has outdone themselves to bring one of the finest classics in their library to DVD. This transfer of MILDRED PIERCE is so perfect, so enthralling, obvious & glistening, it’s almost like watching a different film. Gone are the spots and glitches.

The image is tranquil and lovely, lusciously capturing Ernest Haller’s masterful cinematography. The sound is extraordinary too, for a film of this vintage.

The film itself is Joan Crawford’s finest hour, and one of the best film noir ever turned out by Hollywood. It’s virtues are legendary by now, and I need not picture them here. This is simply a must have for even a casual film buff. A stylish and intellectual drama which is a testament to the dozens of talents that brought it to the veil.

If a phenomenal transfer if an essetial classic wasn’t enough, Warners has given us a B side with a feature length documentary entitled JOAN CRAWFORD: THE ULTIMATE MOVIE STAR. This is an well-behaved program that was made for the Turner Classic Movies channel a few months ago, and makes its home video debut here. With an extraordinary array of provocative interviews, rare film clips, and sumptuous photographs, the exhibit takes the gloves off and presents both sides of the Crawford persona. Her astounding drive for stardom and perfection, her novel residence in the hollywood pantheon, as well as the wound her reptutation has suffered due to the revelations made by her daughter Christina who is one of the many interviewed to describe stories about the right Joan Crawford. Others who knew Crawford wisely counter the daughter’s words, with their fill perceptions, leaving the viewer the opportunity to assume for themselves what they consider of Joan Crawford. A very well-researched and exciting film indeed.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Mildred Pierce! Click Here

Now, they’re not done… Warners has also included 9 trailers, including all of Joan’s WB films made from MILDRED through THIS WOMAN IS Uncertain in 1952. This special feature alone is worth the note of the disc.

It’s really a field day for the film buff to win an amazingly restored DVD of one of the greatest films of hollywood’s heyday, a kindly feature documentary, and a host of other extras, for a list trace of $20. My hat’s off to the huge folks at Warner Bros. home video.

Film Noir never had it so good: “Mildred Pierce” combines the toughness of the Cain novel; a gutsy cast delivering knock-out performances; and at the center of it all one of cinema’s ample hard-shell dames, Joan Crawford.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Mildred Pierce! Click Here

Do not be misled into thinking this is a “women’s narrate” typical of the 1940s. Given that the memoir concerns a woman who must get her occupy scheme after a bitter divorce, it may have a special appeal for women as a group–but let’s face it, Joan Crawford ain’t your average wife and mother, and while Mildred Pierce may pick our sympathies she ain’t exactly a “petite woman” stereotype herself.

As distinguished, the dwelling revolves around Mildred/Joan’s need to create her map in the world–but more to the point, her need to endow her daughters, particularly eldest daughter Veda, with all the best that money can catch. (Never mind, of course, that Veda is clearly a man-hungry, social-climbing diminutive serpent dripping poison from both fangs.) And if that entails kicking out the husband, playing house with a society heel, or even… objective possibly… abolish… well, then so be it. The cinematography is light-and-shadow film noir classic; the production values are first rate throughout; and Joan and company boom enough double-dealing spirit to develop “Mildred Pierce” a vastly appealing rush. And if you ever wondered what made Crawford one of the vast stars of her era… Mildred Pierce will expose ya and how!

The Sizable Flee certainly didn’t fetch its due when it was released — it wasn’t even nominated for Best Describe, Director or any of the Acting awards. In fact, it was only nominated for Film Editing! It seems, however, that the film doesn’t even fetch its capable due today as it was not on the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest Film list despite its substantial following.

The Tremendous Speed is certainly one of the most memorable films I’ve ever seen. The cast includes the leisurely grand Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough (Director of Gandhi), Charles Bronson, James Coburn, James Donald (Bridge on the River Kwai), Donald Pleasance and David McCallum (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) . McQueen’s performance is riveting and makes the viewer miss him all the more. Garner, who actually was a “Scrounger” during the Korean War, is terrific. It’s also particularly nice to sight a performance as a excellent guy from Pleasance and as a human being by Bronson (sorry, but Bronson truly wasted his talent in the Death Wish movies) . And in an era when studios tried to substitute backlot sets for on station filming, the POW camp, which was built on site in Germany, looks completely authentic and makes the audience sympathize with the prisoners’ spot even more. The DVD heightens the experience by presenting the film letterboxed in certain, vibrant colors. In addition, the DVD edition includes a documentary on both the actual yarn and the making of the film. This film is a classic and the DVD edition does it vast justice and makes you realize what a mistake the AFI made by excluding it from its list.

Here’s to “the fifty.”

I saw The Gargantuan Hasten in the plunge of 1963 when I was 8 years used. In my hometown during those days moviegoing was a family affair– wear nice slacks and shirt etc. Seeing this astronomical movie with the macho stars on a astronomical cover with booming sound made quite an impression on me. Steve McQueen was simply the “King Of Frosty” and he became my current film star.

This movie has transcended generations — my 18 year customary son recently viewed it and he was totally engrossed in this astonishing moral epic of men seeking freedom under the most desperate circumstances. He agreed with me that “they don’t build em like they mature to” and that most of the films today can’t gain a candle to The Large Run.

The DVD is reliable — the color and characterize quality is first rate — looks unprejudiced like when I saw it in the descend of 1963 at the frail Capitol Theatre in Rome, NY. The featurette on the making of The Vast Flee is a nice feature that I never saw before.

If you know nothing about Tibet, the brutal occupation of that country by the Chinese, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, then this is a top-notch video. If you’re a Buddhist, a student of Buddhism, or more conversant with the topics above, then it might not be for you. The documentary is an A&E production, so it tends to be, IMHO, a bit shallow and improper at times. The Dalai Lama is not the “king” of Tibet nor does he preside over Tibetan Buddhism in the same manner that, say, the Pope does over Roman Catholics. There is some nice footage of His Holiness as a young man, including clips from his first years as a refugee in India. A few interviews with Richard Gere, Robert Thurman, Orville Schell and others round out the footage along with a few conversations with Dalai Lama. It is always a pleasure, however, to view the Dalai Lama so I did bask in it in spite of the critiques above. It is not what I would reflect an in-depth portrait but more like a generous line drawing.

This 45-minute program from A&E’s “Biography” series is a qualified introduction to the Dalai Lama’s life and leadership of Tibet and to the political space of Tibet. It incorporates appealing historical footage, including footage I hadn’t seen elsewhere of the Dalai Lama as a child and young man.

Naturally, the film sides with the Tibetans regarding the Chinese occupation of Tibet, but it does attempt to be honest. Something I learned from this film is that the Dalai Lama was initially sympathetic to some of Mao’s stated goals.

Two other expedient videos on the Dalai Lama and Tibet are “Heart of Tibet” (available only on VHS, not DVD) and “Compassion In Exile,” both of which do a better job than this video of giving a sense of the Dalai Lama as a Buddhist and as a person.

Even those who don’t care for writer-director Dario Argento’s later baroque extravaganzas may warm to his debut feature, a well-received thriller in which an American writer living in Rome (Tony Musante) witnesses an assault on a woman in an art gallery and is subsequently targeted by the would-be assassin, a crazed psychopath who’s been terrorizing the city with a series of brutal murders. Typical of an Argento thriller, the hapless hero’s investigation unleashes a cycle of violence which culminates in a climactic unmasking that will lift some viewers completely by surprise.

Loosely inspired by Fredric Brown’s fresh ‘The Screaming Mimi’ (filmed under that title in 1958), Argento’s first film is a fairly straightforward thriller with scare asides, anchored by a strong chronicle, an increasingly bizarre series of supporting characters, and a strong Everyman hero who slots the puzzle together allotment by portion before realizing that the most primary clue to the killer’s identity was there in front of him all the time. Musante is given safe encourage by English actress Suzy Kendall as his girlfriend (the scene in which she’s besieged alone in her apartment as the killer hacks through the door with a knife is truly the stuff of nightmares) and Enrico Maria Salerno as the cop charged with finding the killer before he/she strikes again.

Despite Argento’s prior screenwriting credits, including essential contributions to the script of Sergio Leone’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1969), producers were unconvinced of his directorial abilities and wanted to pull him off the recount during the first few weeks of shooting, but Argento persevered under an iron-clad contract and ultimately proved his critics wicked with the finished product, a genuinely piquant mystery punctuated by scenes of explicit panic.

The film puts a late-1960s Italian stir on the kind of movie that Hitchcock had already popularized in America, and is leavened with the same kind of uproarious humor: Salerno gets the best line of dialogue during a police line-up when he despairs: “How many times do I have to direct you? Ursula Andress belongs with the transvestites, not the perverts!” And later, an outrageously camp antiques dealer offers a jaw-dropping description of one of the killer’s stale victims: “It was said she preferred women. I couldn’t care less – I’m no racist, for heaven’s sake!” Briskly edited by Franco Fraticelli, and featuring a brief appearance from distinctive character actor Reggie Nalder (Heed OF THE DEVIL, SALEM’S LOT) as an assassin-for-hire, “Bird” is arguably Argento’s warmest, most humane thriller until TENEBRAE in 1982.

There are two types of Dario Argento films: those after “Four Flies on Grey Velvet” (excluding “The Five Days of Milan,” which was never released in the U.S.) and those before it. “The Bird With the Crystal Plumage,” Argento’s first film, belongs to the category of the before and includes the noticeable differences between the two. While the entire body of Argento’s work is something to treasure, his first three films are surprisingly well-plotted, given Argento’s distinguished lack of interest in matters of fable structure. “Bird” begins with Sam Dalmas, an American writer living in Rome, witnessing an attempted execute in an art gallery. Though he is unable to do anything, his fortuitous arrival saves the victim from almost distinct death. His passport confiscated and at first held as a suspect, Sam is told by the police that this is the fourth attack in one month. The only inequity is, the victim, a fine woman named Monica Ranieri, was the first to survive. Paralyzed by the plan that he saw something that didn’t quite fit, he soon begins his believe investigation, putting both his life and the life of his girlfriend at vast risk. Several attempts are made on their lives, and everytime Sam is able to learn of someone who might be able to wait on him, that person is murdered. Finally, in a double-twist ending, Argento reveals the identity of the killer in a cleverly constructed manner. A pure delight from inaugurate to attain, “Bird With the Crystal Plumage” is one of the most sharp (if minimal) thrillers since Hitchcock. Another attribute is Argento’s knack for always creating a cast of wonderfully offbeat characters. Be clear to regain Inspector Morosini’s exclamation regarding the “perverts” in the line-up sequence. Sad humor is equally interwoven with qualified amounts of suspense to originate a fast-paced and clever mystery/thriller.

I watched every episode of this season. It is spirited and can be archaic for educational purposes. As host, Terry’s quirky demeanor helps bring a definite endearing and down-to-earth feeling to the point to even if he does earn a bit repetitive and ‘cheesy’ at times (I counted no less than eleven times he dilapidated the word ‘awesome’ during one of the episodes) . It is considerable better than a plain narrator that typically dominates historical productions. Furthermore, the experts venerable to derive to the truth of these warrior cultures definitely know their stuff. Overall, I recommend this series and explore forward to another season when/if they fetch around to it.

Each episode delves into the mythical, social, and technological aspects of unusual Warrior cultures: Mayan, Hawaiian, Samurai, Zulu, Viking, Malta, Sparta, German Barbarians, English Knights, and America’s Special Forces.

Season 6 has more twists and turns in it than Season 4 did to us. You HAVE to prefer the DVDs so that you can rewind and expose the shows impartial to win each twist. And this season doesn’t jerk your heart out like seasons 2-3 &4 do. Of course they always establish it abet. The comedy is unexcited in the point to which is section of it’s appeal, along with the Gotcha enemy factor!! (Gibbs’s S*** eating grin when the dirtbag is caught and they have no where to go with it!!) Not a fan so far of the dawdle off (NCIS LA) coming from this season but, maybe they can tweek it before they air their bear reveal and not be connected with the recent. NCIS pilot from JAG didn’t have the spirit that it has on it’s maintain either but, you know you want the copies of it to retain things in order. Care For Gibbs in Heartland which also debuts his oldest son playing a young Gibbs….Sean Harmon. Who also returns in Deliverance for the same character. Has Ralph Waite (Father from the Walton’s) playing Gibbs Father. South By Southwest has Gibbs and DiNozzo on horseback and Gibbs shooting down an enemy helicopter which is priceless for the Gotcha factor. DiNozzo makes a abominable horseman & returns with saddles sores which is the comedy fraction from the very beginning. More secrets are revealed this season, they didn’t catch the easy road with Deliverance that most people would have view that they were taking. Appreciated that a lot. This season has to be one of my favorites. Have watched the DVR this season til I have nearly archaic out the channel selector, yes, will be purchasing the DVDs in Aug 2009, wouldn’t want to smash up the entire series I maintain (Including the 2 DVD’s from the JAG season 8 pilot episodes), and we will gather the bonus features on the DVD’s which are always consuming and informative. Also very tickled they are releasing the DVD’s BEFORE the season 7 return so that we can go thru and perceive them all again and accept caught up. You will literally view more secrets each time you perceive it.

This present has been rivetting since its birth during season eight of JAG. Led by the charismatic, unswerving Leroy Jethro Gibbs – the NCIS team has a blend of ecletic characters, from Israeli officer Ziva David, to the whacky Abby Schuto in the forensics Lab – complimented by Tony Dinozzo and McGhee, a computer nerd the cast is rounded off by an eccentric and ‘tale-telling’ Doctor Mallard, nicknamed Ducky. This season had so many twists and turns it was difficult to peep how they could have kept the plots together, yet together they were – slick, and attractive. Gibbs is one leader that marshalls his troops without apology or comfort – Dinozzo doesn’t call him Boss for nothing! A clip to the wait on of the head if the men net out of line is enough of a slap down. The dwelling that runs throughout the exhibit will beguile and excite. Season seven here we arrive!

My son and I came out of the theater exhausted fair by watching this quasi-documentary reenactment of the 1985 ascent up an unclimbed route on the Siula Grande glacier in Peru. The film’s impact is heightened by the beneficial cutting between the actor/climbers and Simon Yates and Joe Simpson, who choose their actions, reactions, and feelings nearly 20 years later. Concern strikes on the descent, where — as one of them notes — “80 percent of accidents happen.” After Simpson breaks his leg in a descend, Yates — against impossible odds — continues to try and fetch him down. Finally, Simpson falls again, off the edge of the mountain. After hours of hanging on to what feels like boring weight, Yates cuts the rope to prevent himself from being gradually pulled into the void. Simpson’s survival and return to horrible camp is nothing short of miraculous, suggesting that man is never more tenacious about life than when he is closest to losing it. Though far different in its circumstances, his anecdote rivals that of Shackleton and the Endurance in Antartica three quarters of a century before. An underlying dispute, addressed briefly in the film, is whether Yates should have lop the rope. Apparently some other climbers criticized him for doing so, but Simpson always defended his action. I have no concept how well the technical aspects of Touching the Void are done, but to this mostly earthboard amateur, they looked brilliantly and truly shot. Inconvenience and beauty are scarcely separable in Touching the Void. When you are not immersed in the panic of Yates’ and, especially, Simpson’s jam, the chilly beauty of the glacier, the colors within its crevasses are attractive. A epic of recklessness and large determination, superbly told, filled with many “how did they ever shoot that? ” moments, Touching the Void must be seen.

There aren’t enough “mosts” and “-ests” to characterize this movie. It’s the account of two men, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, climbing the west face of the Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes. After making the summit, Joe slips on the descent and shatters his leg. Faced with positive death on the mountain, they attempt to drop by having Simon lower his injured friend in 300 foot increments (the length of their available rope) . This works for a while until Joe slides over a precipice and is left hanging in mid-air. Unaware of whether his friend is alive or stupid, Simon’s only course of action is to eventually slit the rope.

Amazingly enough, Joe survived not only the plunge over the ledge and the subsequent plunge to the bottom of a deep crevasse. While Simon fought the elements and continued down (a harrowing legend in its maintain suitable), Joe managed to skedaddle out of the crevasse and after a four day ordeal approach their gross camp. Somehow it seems trite to call this an adventure, and yet ordeal doesn’t fully record worry of it all.

Joe and Simon themselves provide the narration and context with an almost unworldly matter of fact manner that only adds to the experience You “know” they survived! The ordeal is painstakingly recreated with actors subbing for Joe and Simon as they offer their believe stories and perspectives. Beyond the sheer drama of this film, there is some of the most impressive cinematography that you’ll ever gawk. At times the camera will pan succor from a relatively cessation shot to a distance of a mile or more away, leaving the climber miniature more than a exiguous blur on the wall. It’s a incredible film that will truly leave you breathless.
